A festival celebrating Lord Ganesh.
Ganesh is the God of new beginnings and wisdom.
In India, Ganesh idols are built of all shapes and sizes some as large as houses. He is placed in a temporary temple and then, after an auspicious time, submerged in water to return the components back to the ‘earth’.
This year the festival falls in September.
For schools September is our time of new beginnings, excitement, exploration and time to learn.
The symbolism of this festival and of Lord Ganesh applies really well to the start of term. Tying this into a theme of Elephants would be an exciting experience.
